Okay so I must admit I was quite a skeptic when it came to having a white TV stand. This is coming from the guy who never wears white after Labor Day or for that matter hardly wears white before Labor Day. I just am not that into the color white. But lately I have started to see this flashy trend of furniture being decked with the color I resist most, white.
I am not one who is easily persuaded to try new things, so when my wife suggested that we do something different with our living room; my one hard fast rule was that we would not have any white furniture whatsoever. As long as she stuck to the rule book, made up of one single rule, I was game to try anything she wanted.
For weeks my wife watched “do it yourself” shows and interior designers say how great white TV stands and other white furniture looked in houses and made them look artistically clean. Finally after weeks of begging and praying that she wouldn’t ask about white furniture, my nightmare came true.
For the Sake of My Love
After a few days of not talking to each other because of our huge fight over a little white TV stand, I finally decided for the sake of my love for my dear wife and our marriage I had best give in to her demands. So off to the furniture store we went, setting out to find that unattractive piece of white furniture, that I knew I would loath for all of eternity.
Sold Like a Salesman
When we entered the store I knew I would be miserable as we had to seek out the furniture I already knew I would hate. A salesman asked us what we were looking for and before I could say anything my wife had already piped up that we were looking for a white TV stand. The employee took us around showing us various sets of furniture on display, until we came to a room set up similar to our family room. He showed us the various options we had with TV stands until we came to the one my wife absolutely loved. Still looking at it through a skeptic’s eye I told the young man serving us that he would have to convince me that going with that stand was a good choice. After a short while he had that item sold in my mind like only a true salesman is able to do.
White Is a Delight
Now that I am looking at my brand new TV stand I must say that for all the skepticism that I had of that color white, it really isn’t that bad. While I probably have a lot of other skeptic fears that I need to get over, I can now say that that white TV stand is truly a delight.
Why White?
Maybe it seems crazy in your eyes to have a white TV stand, but I want to tell you that today white is an “in” color and you won’t be sorry for listening to the reasoning behind the new trend of white furniture. In today’s day and age it isn’t enough to just have a cheap TV stand with a large flat screen TV set on top. Most people love to entertain, but they are sometimes afraid to invite others over to their pad because they think their entertaining room is embarrassing. So I want to help you out and give you some of my top reasons for why I chose a white TV stand for my home entertainment room.
Bright Light in a Dark Place
Some people might say that if you have a White TV stand is just you making a loud statement and following all those famous interior decorators you see on the television, but the truth be told one of the best ways to brighten a dark room is to add some light colored furniture to it. This will not only bring in a brighter color that will make a dark room cheery but will do well in accentuating the colors already found in your room.
White Matches Everything
White is a neutral color that not only can accent colors found in a room but is virtually limitless in the colors it will match. You can put white with any other color and it will never look tacky or wrong. It is possible to have too much white though, so try not to overdo it.
White Makes Watching TV Better
Probably one thing people find hard to believe about adding a little white under your TV is the fact that white makes your viewing experience much better. White is a relaxing color that can bring calmness and a peace to the room. This not only allows you to enjoy your TV a little more, but also makes your home feel welcoming to any guest you may invite to be entertained in your home.
Besides helping the atmosphere feel better having a dark TV on top of a white TV stand also helps enhance the picture quality on your Television. It allows your picture to appear brighter rather than dark like it would on a dark TV stand.
White Furniture is Viewed Artistically
The final thing I want to stress is that a TV stand doesn’t have to be an ugly piece of furniture that is only in your home to hold the TV. If you have a good looking TV stand it will become a centerfold of a beautiful room rather than an eyesore that destroys any beauty that you hoped to achieve. So if you are looking to make that entertainment room the talk of the town and the envy of all your friends one suggestion I would make is add a white TV stand.
